our story

Habitat for Humanity of Kenosha was founded in 2012 by community members that shared a vision to revitalize Kenosha’s neighborhoods and help hardworking, low-income families achieve a dream of homeownership. We provide affordable housing in partnership with the family’s needs, create stronger neighborhoods by restoring a sense of community and pride that comes with homeownership, and build community by joining together hundreds of volunteers for every build.

We build homes alongside families who demonstrate need

and willingness to partner with HFHK. Families invest

hundreds of hours of their own “sweat-equity” labor into

the houses. With the hundreds of volunteers per home,

we are able to provide virtually all of the house-building

labor costs making the homes affordable for low-income

families.

Studies show that children who grow up in a stable,

decent environment are more likely to do better in school,

be well-adjusted, and break the cycle of poverty. We at

Habitat for Humanity of Kenosha want to help break the

cycle of poverty, one family at a time, by being able to provide

families with the most basic of needs: a decent, affordable place to live.

mission

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

vision

A world where everyone has a decent place to live

Our purpose is straightforward and to the point: to make simple, decent, and affordable housing available to those who need it the most. This belief is what drives us in our work with Habitat for Humanity – when families have decent housing they can afford, many of life’s other challenges become more manageable.

In partnership with hundreds of dedicated volunteers and supporters, HFHK is building hope, one house at a time.
